That tends to be a bad idea, since the PP3 stores the OEM config as a backup. If something goes wrong with your flash, you are hosed. I don't klnow how often this happens, but I wouldn't want to try it.
I did a lot of reasearch intot his a few years back, so my info might be out of date. Supposedly there was a guy who figured out how to get flashes to and from a PP3 with a laptop, burn them to disk and store them. If this method is tried a true these days, it might work.
