I prefer 035 wire, it welds hotter on the same setting as 030. for welding sheet metal I go clear down to .025 then turn the machine up, it works better for me for penetration.

I like the 35 better too on every machine I have ever used except for my Miller 210. On the 210 .030 runs so much better I can see no reason to ever run 035. It also puts spray transfer with the C5 gas I get more into reach of the machine (it is still at the top end and I would not like to run it for extended periods)

those welds where done with .035, i do prefer the .030 but like hickey said it is cheaper, and the weld supply nere me seems to never have it in stock, jason.

When I had a MM250 I liked to run the .035. For some reason the MM210 seems to run better with .030.

I can get the nickel wire but it is very very expensive

I am going to go a different route I think. I am going to make a mild steel plate that will bolt on the spring perch then I can weld to that. When I find someone with a stick welder that is willing to......I will just use nickel rod and weld it as well. There is no way I am paying 50 bucks a pound for any welding wire.

Thanks for all your input guys

Is the 210 the update to the old crapper 200?

No, and the 200 was a pretty dam good welder. The 250 replaced the 200 and left a little bit to be desired (the arc was rough and splatter was abundant but the welds were fine as far as strength went. The 210 desended from the 185(not to be confused with the 180, it was in a diferent class and was a very fine welding machine)

I have an old 35 (with a Tweako gun), and bought a 200 just after it came out - thinking I would upgrade - and I had absolutely nothing but power supply problems (the same problem you mentioned about the 250 - cutting out). I took it back to the place and the second one did the same exact thing, so I got my money back and kept using my old 35.

Now I'm thinking my 35 is just getting too old, and would like to upgrade and I was thinking about the 210.

Never heard a bad thing about the 200 ever. I have used one and loved it. Miller even brought it back and called it the vintage during the 250 run because people demanded it. My 250 Never had any problems and never "cut out". It was a true work horse, it just had a very harsh arc which left a lot of splatter balls and a more convex bead than I like. You will like the 210 everyone does. I regret not paying a little more and buying a 250 class machine again though.

You're bad for my marriage... First you talked me into a larger plasma cutter (thank by the way, I don't think the smaller one would have done some of th ethings I have already done with this) now you talked me into the 251 instead of the 210... I got to thinking about it, my little Lincoln will do what the 210 will. I still have the smaller machine for the thinner stuff and I am using the 251 to replace the old 35 I have, so.....
