Someday I’d like to have a qualified psychologist do an analysis on my car buying to see what mania lies beneath it all.
I’m going this morning to pick up a 2003 1st gen tundra extended cab. This will come home and park next to 6 other vehicles, mostly 20 yr old Toyota 4x4’s.
There are three drivers in this household, with a 15 yr old on a learners permit. I think I need every one of these vehicles, but my actual rationalization is clearly post hoc, with the real reason being I just wanted them.
Okay, maybe seven vehicles for four drivers isn’t THAT extreme. But if I don’t know what’s driving the madness, am I doomed to keep collecting/selling/losing money in an infinite spiral? Does this indicate some buried insecurity or need to express identity? Or are cars just inherently fun and awesome, so party-on Wayne?
