You can only go full speed for like 12mi or something. Sucks the tank dry that fast at 250mph.

I had the pleasure of seeing one of these at a LeMans Race here at MMP, very much smaller than they look in pics. And to my mind, a lot cooler in person. Less blobular LOL

I had the pleasure of actually driving one, bummer I didn't dare tow it...... :D

Did the one you see have the black paint, and tan interior by chance? The one I picked up was slated for a Phoenix auction, but I heard it ended up in Vegas instead.

There is a local owner who actually banged his up after missing a corner at an Open Track Day at MMP and drove it into one of the corner shacks, he had the nerve to try and get MMP to pay for it even though it was his own fault, but he ended up the fool. An old acquaintance of mine in Denver owns Very Berry Exotics and sold his Enzo a few years back to buy a Veryon, he actually drove it out from Denver for the LeMans race at MMP in 2007 and I helped set up arrangements for his RV they rented to keep at the track. An impressive car but ugly as hell, should have kept the Enzo.

The Enzo's no looker, but agreed, far better. There is just something about sports cars (or 'hyper cars' in this case) today. They stuff all this incredible engineering and power into them, but no grace. Sure it can do 233mph, but how often, if ever, are they going to go that fast?
I think that the mid to late '60's were the high point for sports car design. Jaguar E-type, Lamborghini Miura, BMW 3.0CL. Hell, even the Corvette of the era was pretty if you're into that sort of thing. Somewhere along the line the engineer's and bean counter's took over and the designer was pushed out. Its a shame.

The Bugatti uses all 1001 horsepower to get to full speed and then gets 3 miles per gallon.
The place they take it to full speed is the VW test track with a five mile straightaway.
By the end you have less than half a tank left.

It's got a 26 gallon tank which is drained dry in 12 mins at full throttle. They just had a special on Nat Geo channel about them last night. Base price is 1.7 million with no options

Cool car but I can think of a ton of other things I'd spend 1.7 mil on before that car. :)

Like 10 ZR1 Corvettes? Like every other car you've ever wanted, and enough left to fill 'em all up with race gas?

I can see maybe $250k for something REEEEAAAALLLY special, anything over that I just can't understand. Maybachs? eh? $400k Lexii??

:D I don't think I'd spend it even if I had it. That's ludicrous money for a vehicle.

With these cars, it's not about going fast, or even driving it AT ALL in a lot of cases, it's about saying you have the funds to buy one.

Richard Losee had it right when he bought an Enzo with the intent to have THE Enzo with THE most miles on the clicker. Then he blew it to smithereens, but I digress...

It's a status symbol, I get that. And in many cases its a technology demonstrator as well. But from the perspective of someone who is an automotive enthusiast, they are more or less pointless cars.

One thing I will be interested in is seeing how much they will be worth in say 40 years. Should be fun to watch Berrett Jackson from my holosuite then. :)

I wish I had a scanner for some pics I have! :(

I attended a tight lipped car show here in Logan a few years back where the owner displayed his car collection. There were many exotics including a Aston Martin DB9, and what is claimed to be the largest collection of Ferrari's in the world (seriously including many rare vintage models along with a F40, F50 and Enzo), a Bugatti Veyron, a few Bentley's and so many others.

I waited until the show was over when they were putting the cars back in the shop. Most of them were pushed in, but they fired up a couple. To this day I have never heard a combustion engine that sounded anything like the Veyron and the Enzo. As different as they were there was nothing like it. What an experience! I doubt I will ever see (or hear) anything like that again...

I will never forget watching Jackie Stewart in a green Cooper at Riverside Raceway in California. Small car, Small engine, but smooth as glass in the corners. Also have pics, if I can find them, of Lance Reventlow in the Scarab, Billy Krause in Old Yeller and the AC Cobra. This sure brings back some good memories.

My Dad tells me stories about going to Laguna Seca and Ontario Motor Speedway (now a strip mall) back in the late 60's and early 70's. How you could just go, find a grassy knoll and hang out for the day. Wander the paddox, chat with the engineers and drivers. Those days are long gone. Oh sure, at MMP you can go hang out in the paddox for the smaller races, but for an AMLS race, no way unless you've paid the big bucks.
I do have several posters from those races adorning my walls though. And he has a bunch of programs from the races in boxes at my parents house. Pretty cool if I do say so myself.

I almost forgot Bob Bonderant (sp?) in the Shark?? Corvette. They always tore his engine down to check for a shaved flywheel after each race. If I remember correctly Old Yeller had Idaho license plates.
