I have just installed a CB and dual antennas on my xj, and I need to get it tuned in. Is there anyone around in Utah County that has an SWR meter I could borrow?

When I had to tune mine, I went to Radio Shack, bought their brand of SWR, used it, then took it back.

Find a local Ham Radio Guy He'll hook ya up. They might tell ya you need more seperation etc.. but should be able to make them tune up fine
Correct. Most duals are mounted too close together to gain more reception than a single whip.

Yeah, I've heard that duals are supposed to be about 9 feet apart, but how can you do that on anything smaller than an 18 wheeler? I guess maybe I should have just bought a single, but it's too late now. I'll see if I can find a Ham guy around here. That's a good idea.

I think I can help, but I'm up here in Roy.

Close duals cause to the talk front to back really good but you loose alittle to the sides.

The main idea is not to receive as well, but to have extremely better transmit gains. Radio's are funny that way. I mess with ham radio but I am in St. George. Drive around till you see an antenna farm in some guys yard LOL

I have a meter...

that 9 feet your talking about is what us radio guys call 1/4 wavelength... and it helps to have it at least 1/4 wavelength apart but you can tune it still... you definitely would be better off with a good single antenna...

If you need the swr tuner I can load it out to you... but I have to tell you tuning dual antennas is a tricky thing....

just my input on this. you really should run just a single antenna. every CB shop i have ever delt with has always recommended single so they don't cancel each other out. i have a swr meter if you still need to borrow one.-i'll b in orem 02/20/06 if you still need to use one. i don't havea jumper cable though
