Central Air not pushing enough air.. help! I'm melting

Our utilities bill was HUGE this last cycle and now that I think about it.. our Central Air has been coming on quite frequently. Anyone know what I can do to figure out why it is not blowing as hard as it has in the past? I changed the filter... checked the incoming and outgoing vents, cleaned out what I could, but it still isn't pushing much air out the vents?

Anyone know what the problem could be?

My kid's house had this same problem. It appears the previous owner didn't really see a need to run a furnace filter....

Had to pull the plugged coil out of the ductwork. 5 minutes with a shop vac, and it was good as new (kinda sounds like Shawn's love life).

With it running, drill or find a small hole in the ductwork between the blower housing and the coil. If there's pressure there, your coil needs to be cleaned.

It doesn't seem to be icing over.. Where is this "coiling"? The Central air is working it just doesn't seem like we are getting much airflow out of the vents. There is a tin plate on the front of the duct work that I pulled out a little and saw something that resembled a radiator.. could this be the coiling? I didn't pull the plate the rest of the way off to look very hard... quess I shouldn't be so lazy .

I've had mine ice over more than once. Also it seems that filters get clogged fast, lots of construction around me.

there is a spray you can buy that you apply to the top of you coil and it will eat it's way tought to the block and cleanit right up.
don't know if the guy's in orange carry it(home depot) the carrier by my work does 2100s 400w slc

Right above where the furnace is sits the coils. They will creat a /\ over the blower. As BC said, as the air comes through if it is not filters right it will clog just like the AC cooler on the front of you car.

The problem with trying to pull the coil is that in most cases you'll have to disconnect the lines, which requires a pump-down unit to reclaim the freon.
Have the A/C system checked to see if it is charged properly. An over/under charged system will not run efficiently or cool well either.
It may be that the compressor is going out, but a service tech would be able to tell by how many amps it pulls on start-up.
Usually, the problem lies with a dirty filter, but it sounds like you've been on top of that.

I took the top end of the ducting apart and found the "A" Radiator and started sucking it out with the vaccum but nothing was coming out of it and it looked to be in good shape?? I think I am going to have to replace the darn blower . Sad thing is I can't just wait this out till next season cuz it runs the heater too. :-\

Thanks for the suggestions it was worth a try at least. I actually ran it without a filter for a couple seconds just to see if it was that but it still wasn't blowing much air out.

Yes. This is condensation. You should have a PVC drain line connected to the drip pan at the bottom of the coil draining to the floor drain.

You won't get much if anything from the top. You'll need to check the underside of the coil to see if it has collected any material...not too easy to do :sick:
