1.3 Million with the hopes the BLM will trade for something better. While that would be amazing property, getting even access to it would be a major PITA. This is the exact area Corey from GRE has been discussing, the fact a Wilderness Area was created amidst mining and ranching history. SUWA and their faulty inventories.

Kurt, do you know of any property that the BLM might be willing to trade these folks at their (ummm......inflated, dream world) price? Do you know if this property is actually "land locked" ?
I merely stumbled upon this property today, so I really don't know the ugly side.......I just know I love that area, and I would hate to lose it.

That would be cool to buy. $3K/acre seems a little steep for land that would be very hard to develop or even access. Buying with intent for a land swap seems to be the only thing that would make sense. Very interesting.

Do I know of any land the BLM is willing to trade??? Nope, they are not in the business of reality or land swapping, doing so would require a ton of legal work and due process. It does happen, but its not something I would bank on after spending 1.3 million ;) I really don't know why they would want that land so badly, there are likely a couple dozen similar parcels in that range alone that either border wilderness land on all sides or wilderness and BLM on all sides.

How would it be lost?? Its already private property as it likely has for the last 100 years. If it does by some chance go back to BLM there is a chance that motorized access to the land (if it currently exists) could be lost? But again, its private property now.

This is why I was wondering if this property is "land locked". If it is, the BLM would surely make it part of their WSA that already covers ALOT of the surrounding area. There is only one road up there, if there wasn't any private property to be accessed they would probably close that too. This property is not the only reason for the road. The main road continues up the main canyon about 6-7 miles.

Good to hear that you doubt the BLM would be willing to jump into this. I think the realtor is looking for reasons to justify their price.
