I managed to put a few more hours into this thing this weekend. I hoped to get both of the rear inner fenders done, but ended up only getting one side done. I suck at sheet metal work. :( I ended up taking the piece I had previously cut out and welding it back in about 3 1/2 inches further back, and then filling in the gap. I also trimmed and test fit the plastic interior piece. Anyway, here's the result.

Soon. I'm taking it to Grand Junction next month, and I want to get the other fenderwell done before then, and maybe get the interior put back together. I've been busy doing other fun things all summer. Turns out summer is just as bad a time to try to build Jeeps as winter. Who knew?

Got the passenger side rear inner fender done today. I ran out of rubberized undercoating but other than that it's pretty much done. Looks about like the other side...

I was hoping to get the back seatbelt tabs made today, but didn't get around to it.

It looks like you painted or herculined the well. What did you use? It looks nice.

Sorry, I missed this question when it was posted a couple months back. I used Duplicolor rubberized undercoat for the inner fender wells. It does a nice job of sealing any pinholes, soundproofing, and making them more durable against rocks and what not. It's good stuff, but don't get it on your skin, it doesn't come off... It's not expensive, and it's super easy to apply.

DId you use the stuff w/the sound eliminator?? I have to do the interior of my new Cruiser soon, thinking about using gray Durabak or something similar... but that stuff looks pretty good too.

Just checked the can. Yup, it's the "with sound eliminator" version.

Yeah, I like that stuff. 3M makes a good formula too. The only problem I've had was spraying it on areas where it gets a lot of direct UV. Under the wheel wells is the perfect location.

Thanks!

I have turn signals and pencil beam lights to go in the dimpled holes in the front bumper. For headlights I'm planning on Arctic Cat lights. They're kind of triangularish and should fit better with the lines I've established. I'll have to trim the grill a bit to make them fit. I do want it to be street legal.

I have an idea for you here

When we did mine we used 6" diesel exhaust to build the outer half of the inner fender.

I had planned on doing the same thing to the inside, putting a piece of tubing around the coilover . Then putting a rubber boot on the coil over and clamping around the exhaust tubing to seal it.

I don't have any room between the tires and coilovers to add the exhaust tube. I would have to get less backspace on the rims, or limit compression travel more. As it is my tires rub just a tiny bit on the coilover springs at full articulation, so adding anything between the coilovers and the tires would makee the rubbing worse.

How about something on the inside? A small bit on the top of the inner fender then a piece coming up from the floor along the fender, kind of a cone shape so that it comes straight down to give the coil over room to move on the inside. Then a rubber boot on the top.
