Dana 44 swap

Thanks for the info on that! I contacted them and it's seems to be a little more costly than just buying a waggy front 44

Is there any body that has done this that can tell me how to do it? I have access to presses and other machine tools just need some advice.

Do the tubes push out after the plug welds are drilled?
I thought of a bottle jack inside the pumpkin to push them out, or a bar inserted into the housing from the opisite side after.......

Whats the word?

I paid 50$ for my last front waggy 44...you should be able to find something fi you look long enough.

the benefit of the Chevy 44 is I think the tubes are thicker than the waggy version.

you realistically would only have to press out one side because you could just cut down the other side to the proper length if that is any help??

Not pulling both out

I guess thats true on the fact that I only need to pull one side. But, I would need to find more axel tube to make the long side. Can U buy that stuff?

I have been looking for a waggy front 44 with the drivers side drop for a long time. $250 is the cheapest I have ever found.

But then again a guy could look harder! I'm cheap and that dosent help!

Why not cut a ford reverse spiral front down. Everyone that has built a custom front end will tell you, is that the cheapest part is the purchase of the junkyard axle. Start with the best axle that will suit your needs. If you need drivers drop and will have room for a drivshaft running a hi pinion axle then find a 77 or earlier ford F150 axle. I would also look into a early Bronco front end. What are you going to use for suspention?

I have room for leaf springs but havent decided on any thing just yet. I just need to keep costs low and the axel I have has the gear set that I need to match the 9" rear that I have.

I would like to find an early Bronco 44 front and then I would just run coils again
