They're all expensive, as would be expected for the first generation of practical alternative energy cars. Electric cars will be awesome when new technology allows them to enter the performance market.

The problem I have with electrics is, I can carry fuel much easier than I can carry spare batteries. I agree that they will be awesome for commuting and highway travel.

but then you'd be driving a VW and that's just not cool.
When Gm first announced the Volt. I planned on buying one. Then they were two years later than first announced. And forty grand to boot. So we bought a VW Jetta TDI. Hell I love the thing. It gets 40 miles per gallon on the highway and screams like a raped ape when you stomp on it. I just don't have a problem with driving a VW.:D
Someday I might own a Volt. I think the time is right for electric cars. I just couldn't wait that long as my wife's car was about to die. And the price was out of my range. I'd sure like to test drive one though.:D

I have a VW TDI also made in Mexico. One of the best vehicles I have ever owned. I have a couple of great US-made vehicles also, but I'm a capitalist at heart. Buying inferior stuff is not my idea of patriotism.
