CJ front spring hanger broke

I broke my second stock spring hanger in the driveway measuring for shocks :D . The first one broke last summer. We welded it back together and beefed it up pretty good. Now I noticed last night the other side is cracked. Mepco - or most places sell stock type - they say a little stronger for about $15.00 each. I think currie and someone else makes some beefed up ones for a lot more money. I was thinking of getting the stock type ones and carrying my broken/beefed up ones as spares.

Does anyone know if these $15.00 ones are reasonably strong?

Should I just suck it up and pay for the good ones?

Do people break these stock ones often?

BTW - I use some home made shackle that don't "flex" much.

thanks.

Find yourself a stock replacement that isn't cracked. Then weld a small triangle brace out of 1/4" plate from the top down along one side, but not too close to the mounting holes so you can still get the bolt in. They'll last forever. Mine have anyways.

I think Currie or others have one that is actually cast. Certainly it's stronger, but I think my method works just fine.

I bought those hangers from Mepco last year and they are better made than the original one. Thicker metal and the hole for the frame rivet is bridged (seems to me thats where they usually break). I haven't driven it much though to see how its going to hold up.

Damnit! I went to Mepco yesterday afternoon and bought theirs. I welded some gussets on them to beef them up and replaced the one that broke last night. Thanks for the offer though.
