I need a used steering column for an 80,s CJ.... I cant seem to find any locally. Any Ideas on where to find one? I heard rumors that I might be able to make certain chevys work? Anybody with any info on this????

You can use a column from a wagoneer, they are 1 inch longer than the cj columns. They work well if you have a body lift. The chevy truck columns will work but they are also longer. I have two wagoneer columns in the basement and a 78 chevy truck one too if you want me to get measurements. If you want a cj column call "5" at KeepItJeep (9025 So. State) he usually has several.

I have a column out of an 82 CJ7 if you want to make an offer. I also have a tilt wheel from an 83 but you would have to have a good offer on that one. I have the key for it and everything.

I used one out of a mid 70's monte-carlo. It's a plug and play deal, but the length is different (I cant remember if it's longer or shorter). You have to adjust your colapsable section accordingly, but it's a piece of cake job (Like 5 minutes). If you're running a manual, find a Monte with the floor shift. I had an auto, so used the column shift.

you might already know this but a colum for a wrangler upto about year 90 or 91 works just fine. I got one from Transwest that rips people off for $150. It has tilt and all. It pluged right in and all the switches work for my scambler, ecept cruise because i don't have it. Get everything up to the steering box. I had to make and steering link from shaft to bos but that was it.
