Classifieds cleanup

As you might have noticed we've separated the 4x4 classifieds and the Yard Sale and made each forum as it's own sub-forum. Hopefully this will help un-clutter RME.

Now a question... How would you feel about having the threads closed for new posts? Basically the new thread is posted and nobody can reply. Offers, info and price debates will be avoided, as will each new post bumping that thread up to the top. Interested parties will need to contact the seller by PM, email or phone. I think this will prevent the low-ball, bogus offers.

I'll probably add a time limit to each thread as well, when it expires the thread disappears. No double posts or reposts while the first thread is up. I believe this will help dramatically improve sales exchanges on here. Thoughts?

I'm probably going to go this route, just wanted to see how the general public felt. :)

agreed too many people leave out information in their ads or don't know what they have. A rule to post a price would be nice...if you don't know what you want for it don't post

It's already a rule... :-\ We're working on something to address this issue aswell.

I used to clean up the sale boards on another board... I put in time limits and yanked all posts lacking certain critical information: location, price, and condition. No feelers, no best offers, people know what they want for their stuff.

I did allow condition or application type questions though, you can't think of everything. It helped with bandwidth quite a bit LOL

i really like the straightening up... looks good...

i think the time limit idea is ok... but instead of no reply posts... just allow me to mod the classifieds.. i'll get flack either way... ;)

I agree with everyone else...Time limits would be good, but additional posts are helpful to completely describe the item. Lowballing and all of that all come with the location. I guess maybe keep questions in the public eye and offers in PM's...

The one that irritates the most, is the btt's. When a thread goes for months and all you see is 'btt' and maybe 1 or 2 q's...
