Coil-Over Options

I found another option, although it's probably not a viable one for me.

Rancho has a coilover version of the RS9000. I'm not convinced this is of comparable quality to the Sway-A-Way, Radflo, or Fox shocks. It doesn't look like it is available without springs. They have two different lengths, with 5 different spring combinations each. They are remote-reservoir with a dial to select performance. The lowest price I can find seems to be Summit Racing, at $413.69 each. http://store.summitracing.com/egnse...sults=false&Ntk=KeywordSearch&DDS=1&N=700+115

Compare that to the Radflo shocks, which are rebuildable, tunable shocks, with nearly limitless spring rate options. $230 for the shock plus $37 (*2) for springs you're at $304. You save about $110 and have a higher quality shock, but without the bypass.

I can do $360 a shock if you want them. Also, I have some Eibach springs here maybe we can swap around springs so we both get what we want.;)

I looked at the Rancho's with Eibach springs and almost went for them. The only reason I didn't, is because they are new and I was afraid of that - not having a track record. So I went with SAW's with Eibach springs and I've been happy with them. The SAW's do come stripped, so if you want anything that's extra. But I do like the fact that every piece of the SAW's is replaceable. Not sure if Rancho is doing that with their CO's...

The end result of this thread was delivered today. :D

I was really happy with the Sway-A-Ways I had on my buggy, and I found them for a price that made them the best value. When I opened the box I was pleasantly surprised to find that Racerunner had made some really cool improvements over the shocks I bought three (or so) years ago. I expected them to be identical.

The schrader valve used to be mounted on the outside of the top cap. They are now inset and covered with a really nice little o-ringed aluminum cap. I always worried about knocking off the exposed schrader valve, so this is really cool!

They now have a nice little bump stop installed on the shaft. I'm not really sure if this is a suitable replacement for a proper bumpstop, but it probably goes a long way towards protecting the shock if it does bottom out.

The shafts are no longer chrome. They are now nitrosteel, which has a black appearance. Nitrosteel is quite a bit stronger and more corrosion-resistant treatment than chrome plating. The dual-rate spring sliders are now black as well. I am not sure if they are a different material than the old red ones, or just a different color.

I'm even happier with them now that I see the improvements! :greg:

 can you say where you got them from for a good deal? I'm going to be looking into SAWs for the front of my truck.

I'm liking mine and apparently I have hte new version (based on your descriptions). I've heard that the slider wears out fast :-\ I don't have the dual rate coils on mine anymore to get my ride lower (and not spend ~$400 in coils to do it). Those in the know I guess are using Fox sliders for this reason. I've also noticed several bad schraders in the shocks I've sold/filled.... Also, make sure the schrader is tight before filling. It seems like they've all been hand tight?

Interesting. I remember reading somewhere about replacement sliders... I wonder if the new material is not as good. I never had a problem with the sliders on my old set. Well, if I have a problem with these ones I'll pick up something else. Replacement sliders can't be too expensive.

They're not (expensive)...
