Comanche Pre-runner Build

Been working on the bedsides. They are made out of 1.25x.090 DOM and will be skinned with .060 aluminum.

Used a recycled rear bumper (keeping it green) which doubles as a tire carrier. It will handle a 35 on each side and they lean onto the d-pillar where they will be secured by three-way ratchet straps.



If you look in the middle of the bed it has ladder racks which will hold dirt bikes and double as a traction device in silt beds, after they're removed.



Picked up these sweet tube clamps from blitzkrieg. They are self aligning. I highly recommend them.



Here is the substructure for the seats and floor. The tube work is on the same plane as the existing floor so aluminum will seat nicely. This structure also doubles as the console for drift brake, shifter, switches, etc.

I suppose it is time for an update. So many hours have been dedicated to this project and it has made great progress.



There are close to 50 of these welded all over the chassis. They have a nut welded to the backside of the tab for obvious reasons.





Alot of panels are being installed. Some aluminum, some steel mostly the first.



Fuel cell containment tube work?...haven't thought of a creative name for them. That section bolts in. Also you can see the quick release aluminum race jack and it's handle above it. One pin holds the jack and another pin holds the handle. Those simply keep them from rotating. The actual supports are mechanical holds.

Engine harness installed. Distributer/wires and timing set. Engine hoop tig'ed in.

Red top tucked in behind the cab and just inside the bedside.

Fuel lines are run, pump installed at lowest point on chassis. The space is prepared for second fuel pump after testing. Ammo boxes burned in. Rear panels are built and bolted in.

Brakes are finished in the rear and nearly complete everywhere else

Seats installed. 5 pt harness tabs done. Floor underneath the seats is complete. Here you can also see the fuel lines running up the back of the 700R4. They're covered in a high-temp jacking.

Gated shifter, drift brake, in-cab proportioning valve, battery isolation switch are mounted. Some guages and switches are waiting for the console finalization before than can permanently land.

No, not fiberglass bedsides, but there is tube work which is/will be skinned with aluminum panels. Most of it is complete I just have to bend up the rest. Should be done in the next week or so. I'll post some pics then.

Well a lot has been complete in the last couple of weeks.

Center console is bent, welded and installed. Also added a little bling...

Rear bedsides/tube was raised up for clearance. The inside of the wheelwells will be filled in with aluminum.

Front bumper rolled, skinned and tig'ed. Second lightbar installed. Grill reinstalled. The front 1.25" section is sleeved to the main bumper tube so it can be removed, when damaged, and replaced.

Glass fenders/glass hood, saved ~80lbs.

The main wiring is complete.

This pic and the one above show the custom fan shroud for this build. It is made out of .120 aluminum, bent up and welded It fits like a glove and moves an absurd amout of air.

The cab sheetmetal is 90% complete. The pics really don't do justice...on the passenger side there are three rolled pieces that come together and are welded. The driveline hump is actually tapering forward with each brake bend making it 2" narrower in the front of that section. Anyhow, more to come.

Here's an update...

Couple pics of the cab/floor/console.

The spare tires had to move from the rear and we're relocated midship. Here is the tube structure to support it.

The tires are integrated/recessed into the rear fender.

Hood pins.

Harbor Freight jack mod.

The jack had to move. It is now in some dead space behind the cab. One pin plus mechanical holds keep it in position.

Added some straps to prevent hangups from nerfing.

She is shod with a new set of 35" KO2's.

Groovy skull is cool and doubles as a rear view mirror mount.

High lift...Note the ski strap.

Roof patches are in place.

Seats, harnesses done. Submarine straps are burned in, just waiting to be pulled through.

Taillights bent up and burned in. Also some quick release mud flaps...the fuzz won't even notice this rolling down the street...

Bent up some aluminum boxes to house the new blinkers.

Just finalized drawing the the circuits for the chassis. Quite a task...
