I have a 30 gal. tank and the fitting on the side of mine is 1 1/2 NPS pipe.
Thats a straight pipe thread and uses an o-ring to seal instead of the usual taper of NPT pipe.
Some plumbing supply places have the NPS fittings if you need it but yours might be tapered.

Ya know, mine leaks just a little bit from that fitting....I wonder if it's because I'm using an NPT fitting in a straight hole??

It did tighten in like it belonged there, but since the fitting is tapered I could see that happening. Hmmm, guess I'd better check sometime, or it'll bug me.

There is a big threaded hole with an insert in it. The insert is (hopefully 3/4" NPT). I got some fittings that I hope will work. We will see in an hour or two.

IT'S SO QUIET!!!!!! The instructions said once it's wired to let it run for 30 minutes with no load to break in the pump. So I haven't put any fittings in it yet, it's just blowing out the huge hole in the tank. It's totally quiet enough to let it run while the kids are sleeping upstairs. Thanks for the advice everybody!
