Concrete Overlay----???? Sounds good, but is it?

Someone suggested getting our aging concrete "overlayed". It appears that a skilled craftsman just refinishes your concrete driveways and flatwork. Has anyone had this done and what's your experience?

I've seen a few done, but I've never seen one last more than 3 or 4 years. If you're thinking of a future move, go for it. If your house is a keeper, just re-pour.

If you go this route be sure to square wire screen and rebar held up off the old slab. Raise them up half way in depth so the new slab can have the wire hold it together longer. Use a good water sealer after on it as well.
Just a thought.

Sounded to good to be true to me. We're likely not long for this house so a cosmetic investment would be great but I don't want to leave the new owner with ugly surprises. What we have is ok, just 25 yrs old and starting to show some age.
