Converting MTS files

Anyone know of a good free software that'll convert MTS files to something more usable, such as a WMV or MPEG or something?

Don't be a douche.. Of course I googled it. I'm looking for one that perhaps someone already knows of that is truly FREE and works well. I've downloaded AVS4you which is a great little converter/player.. But they watermark the video unless you pay for a year subscription.. That was advertised as 'free'.. Kinda let down there..

I'm going to check out VLC media player to atleast view the MTS files, but still need a converter.
