Could we make a group RME account at Home Depot?

So I bought a house yesterday, and as I'm looking at the prices at the local Home Depot I was wondering how I could get a discount on things.

Does Home Depot/Lowe's give a discount to contractors that have an account at the store? If so, could we at RME set up a non-credit (meaning you have to pay in full at the time of sale) account there? I think that if we all used it we would have a substantial buying volume, which may qualify us for a discount.

Does anybody have any experience with this kind of thing? Are there other stores we could set this up with (like Checker Auto)?

Chime in!

I'm pretty sure they don't give a discount to contractors. My old company had an account there and I'm pretty sure we didn't get any discounts. I think they'd have a sale once or twice a year for their contractors, something like that. FWIW, their own employees don't even get a discount.

 I thought they would at least get things at or near cost. I hear they make pretty good money though for non schooled types
Yeah, I would have thought they got some sort of discount as well, my cousin is working there while he's going to school and I believe he's making around $14/hr...not bad but I know there are jobs that pay more. The one thing he really likes is if he shows an interest in another field of expertise they will pay to have him trained and certified in that area.

Well nuts. Thanks for the information though.

That still leaves the option of auto parts stores. I KNOW that most of them have discounts available for corporate accounts. I think that Autozone bases the discount you receive on the monthly volume that you purchase.

They've got some pretty good sales going right now. Fill out a change of address form at the post office and you'll get a Home Depot Coupon good for 10% off any purchase. They also have a bunch of mail-in offers going this month. We're about to go spend about $2,000 on stuff there for our new house.

they used to have a place online you could fill out a little form saying you were moving on both Lowes and Home Depot sites and get the 10% off coupons at each place. I couldn't find it when I last looked a few months ago though.

With Autozone you have to have a VERY large volume to see a price break. CSK will give any shop an account (or they just like me) and the more you buy the better the discount is. I think the computer adjusts it constantly, because as time goes on it seems like my prices get better and better there....

HOWEVER! With auto parts, why not shop somewhere that supports the sport? Like AllJeep.com.... ;) :D I'll beat any of their prices any day of the week.... Some items you won't believe how much less! Some items they can't even get, like an alternator for a TJ....

The mark up on auto parts is outrageous and if you buy alot then they will give you discounts. I just buy through work to get my pricing
