Anyone know what the bolt pattern is on an '83 Wagoneer?

And, how strong is the AMC 20 that came in the rear of the vehicle?

you are kidding right.....you have to be....nobody is this uneducated about the dinner plate 20.....I aint gonna touch this one....my flame thrower always gets me in trouble....

simple answer....probably a six lug.....maybe 5 on 5.5, AMC 20 is junk in stock form. 1000$ later you have an axle that passes for zuki strength....

Well, I am sorry "O tech GOD" but I have never had to deal with anyone that had an AMC 20 rear. I just don't see why Jeep would put a 44 in the front and a really weak axle in the rear.

I believe all the wagoneers had a 6 lug pattern. The wagoneer AMC 20 axle had one piece axles instead of the crappy 2 piece ones they put on the CJs. Supposedly if the AMC 20 has one piece axles they are about the same strength as a Dana 44.

6x6.5 pattern. I use a front D44 in my cherokee from an '83 Wagoneer.

the word is that the AMC 20 found in wagoneers is actually not a bad setup. Suppossably 1 piece axles, which in the CJs were 2 piece. I think they have a larger ring gear than a d44 also. I'll try to dig up some more info.

The FSJ version has larger/thicker/stronger tubes than the CJ version too. So, as compared to a D44, the ring gear is larger, and the shaft diameter is larger. The housing/tubes is much better than the CJ version.

Overall, not a bad setup.

So I guess this means Spence was talking out his ass again?hehehe;) Yes, Fullsize 20 good. Look for people selling their CJ 20's for cheap and snag the gears and locker.

Once again Spence's ignorance is only preceded by his ignorance. Carl is right; it's called a "metric ton" model 20 and is quite good. Don't throw it away!
