Crawler or dirtbike

I think everyone goes through phases of what they desire. I used to really have the desire for the hardcore crawling, while I never had a full on buggy a few of my rigs were trailer queens. I've since lost the desire for the hardcore, just for cost and PITA of getting everything there. I'm looking forward to a summer of more exploring type "wheeling". I loved my dirt bike and had tons of fun on it, that being said I barely can find the time for one hobby right now. That and the fact my current schedule makes it hard to find people to ride with. I would rather roll out solo in the Jeep than my bike, which is why I am down to just the street rig now. When my schedule normalizes, I would love another bike if I could find a group of guys to use it with.

To summarize the rambling given the choice of two, I would take DD mild 4x4 and a dirtbike.

Well I look at it like this, I love crawling and especially a little go fast racing like we did in delta last weekend. Sure indont get to take my crawler out as much as I'd like to, but it is paid in full 100% and costs me nothing just sitting. So it doesn't bothere that much when I haven used it for awhile... I grew up riding dirt bikes and went riding almost every weekend in high school and I thoroughly enjoy it. But I realized that I can't really take the girlfriend/wife now riding so I sold my bike and just have the crawler now. It's much safer and I know I won't be breaking any hands arms or legs or anything else for that matter doing it. If I was to be out of work for a broken something or other for an extended period of time I would be screwed financially. I love riding but it's much more practical for me to have my crawler. Do what makes you happy James!

Good point about it not costing me anything just sitting.

I too woul be screwed financially If I broke an arm or leg..
I've only been riding for about 10 months so that's probably why It seems more important than crawling.

I am pretty sure I'd get tired of weeping a full body rig pretty quick and regret giving up on the buggy.

Maybe if we go to little Moab this weekend Maddie will let me drive her buggy and that will get my motivation up

I really have always wanted to build a full time crawler, but it cost to much to build, then afford a tow rig. What I use to have was a built 85 runner that was my DD/wheeler. I thought it was awesome and reliable, but know one else did. Also I was always afraid to wheel it hard for the fact it had to get me to work. Then I was full circle on my thinking.
