I have read a little in our Tooele County paper about a rock crawling area being built at the Miller Motorsports Park.

Anyone familiar with it or have details?

Thanks for the link. I never wander into the vendor forum.

From the article in the paper, they very much made it sound like it will be open to the public. They talked about it being 'closer than Moab' etc etc. Also potential future club days and training courses with rental Jeeps.

It will be fun to see just what they end up doing for access.

Anyone involved, please keep friendly preasure to make it as open as possible! Since I have to listen to the noise of the races, might as well have something fun for me!

Uh ya. I got a random email the other week from a guy that works out there. He invited me out to check it out. He danced around how much it costs, then i got out of him that it's $250 an hour??!?! I sure hope he was wrong.

UNSTUCK

But stuck more often.
So who can put a price on building up one of these parks? I think the park in Delta is really good. But I can't imagine it would cost a lot to build it. Pretty much looks like the land is open for scrap dumping, which is used to build up the hills, then the hills are formed and cemented. I'd think cementing would be the highest cost, but still not that bad.

Anyone know?

At a private park ie LHM a good chunk of your fees will be related to insurance and safety, whereas a county owned park is not required to have an insurance policy, however an event organizer might. Same scenario plays out for events on BLM and FS land too. Getting insurance to cover a motorsports park can't be was easy as calling Gieco :D

Track days at MMP are pretty cheap compared to other race tracks. You can get 8 hours of track time in for under $180 on one of the best tracks in the world. Other tracks will cost you about $260 for a full day on a track that has weeds growing up through it. Hopefully they take the same approach with the crawling course.

Not at all impressed with anything Miller does. The prices out in Tool-e are rediculous at best. One of my better friends is the suspension guy here in bountiful and as an employee was allowed to go out there at a discount and run the course. We loaded both rigs up and off we went even with his "discount" we were handed a bill for 275$ per person per rig for 1 hour. If either of us were to just ride with the other it was 125$ to call shotgun. Screw that for another 30 min drive ill head to the snakes from there.

That is incredibly high priced.

What is the pricing for other off road parks around? I can't imagine that course getting much traffic at all with a rate like that.

I'm not suprised to hear this... The guy that contacted me didn't say one word about a price. He made it feel like MSP was inviting me out for some special occassion on a discount(i assume they contacted me from the MountainYoats4x4 website)... Anyways, I finally got the price out of him, and told him the same thing you brought up Badcop. Absolutely ridiculous. At $275 an hour per person, you;d think that they'd be supplying a comp buggy to rent in that hour.

Asshats... I was so pissed over the time wasted, and the sleesy sales 'tactics' to lure people out there, that I almost called to talk to a manager... But let it go.

We only went to see what it was all about with Wayne being a LHM employee and all we expected it to be damm near free with an invite to "try" it out, oh man were we wrong. Ill never set foot out there to use this ever, with the cost for us to trailer both rigs, plus cost to use we could have been in Moab camping and wheeling....

I am pretty sure that you are mistaken. I have heard from them that it is $250 per hour to rent the course. Not $250 per person per hour. It is not a per person price.

So if ten(10) 4x4s went out there it would be $25 per hour per person. Quite a bit different.

Apparently there's someone from the MMSP pimping prices on the course despite there not being an 'official' price set up. I hear this from legit sources.

I can see $250 an hour for the whole course to oneself and friends, but they(anyone at MMSP) would need to make that clear when quoting a price...

Are you with MMSP frizzle? Odd that this is your first post.. BTW, i'm not mistaken. I'm misguided by shitty sales people ;)

Well I am sorry for saying "you were mistaken". I didn't mean to put any blame on you. Not my intention.

Bottom line is that I am pretty sure it is a per hour charge and not a per person per hour charge.
