CV Joint Fried??

So how do you know when you CV joint on the drive shaft is fried. I just had this shaft built and the vibration rattles yer brains... I pulled the shaft and the CV just kinda flops around. In the past, the CV shafts I have had, the CV is some what hard to move and stays kinda locked in a bent position.

Input?

I plan to take it back, just looking for feed back.

Pull off your double cardon and check out the CV itself. You'll know if it's wasted and of course look at your u joints for play in the ends.
It shouldn't be bad though if you had it done recently and kept it lubered up!
Pull the drive line and drive your rig around if ya can to see if the vibration is still there, at least then you'll know if it's the driveline.

I agree with you Shawn, usually they don't just flop around... seems like most double cardans stay pretty firm and in place, shouldn't be any extra movement.

Was it all new parts or rebuilt?
Sounds like either the center ball or pin of the CV are wasted.
um... new shaft with a used CV. I put the old shaft in and there was some improvment, give that I cut and rewelded it ;)
The whole flopping of the CV is what I question.
