I wouldn't rule out the Tacoma on size...get in an 05 Double Cab...thats got some nice room and the 4.0L has some awesome power. I have been looking patiently for a Double cab (01 or later) and have yet to find what I want. I don't want a truck as big as the tundra and I don't want a V8 so that leaves me with the Taco. As for experience, my work purchased an 04 Taco last year brand new, it now has about 60K miles (yes, in a single year  ) and besides oil changes and tire rotations its not been in a shop at all. I drove it for about the first 35K of those miles.

Yeah, the 05's are sweet...and they also won Motor Trend 'truck of the year'....I'm still anxious to see what employee pricing is going to be on them( ;) ;) ). If they're not too ridiculous to buy/lease I'll end up in one. :D

Fortunately, aside from your ass-like responses, I have gotten good information from others in regard to the Tacoma.

I see your points and realize where I didn't really offer much information on Tacomas.

While I would link you to the national forum of the most knowledgeable Tacoma people around, there has been a lot of recent hatred and asshole-ish activity there (some of it from myself as you can imagine), I will give you these links instead:

http://www.tacomaterritory.com/wiki/index.php/General_Tacoma_Information
http://www.tacomaterritory.com/wiki/index.php/Maintenance_Information

I've been a big jackass lately, I apologize for not restraining myself, and for wasting your thread's space.

Thanks man, I commend your response  ....I'm not sure I can say I would have reacted the same :D  ! I'll be sure to check out the Tacoma forums... B

Things I have noticed on the tacomas that we change frequently is the cruise control actuator/ecu,

You should get your ball joints replaced for free.....Normally when we do a timing belt a water pump is thrown at it because they are leaking...but other than that there is nothing "normally" that really goes wrong with them! We have customers bringing them in with over 200k non-rebuilt motor miles on them. They do their maintainance.

But like the customer the other day we had, complaining that toyotas suck because they siezed the motor at 100k...and had bought it from us around 50k used. Pulled the drain plug and nothing came out...pulled the oil pan and found what resembled mom's jello that turned out terribly wrong....needless to say they didn't even change their oil claming "no one told me to change it"
I wonder who told them they had to put gas in their car!

Tundras.....the little bulb in the dash behind the letter D burns out pretty early on a lot of them....but again, what maintanace shouldn't be considered "repairs" yes a timing belt/water pump is maintainance....
