Anyone else following the Dakar 2010? It started today and will run for the next 15 days!

There is some great info on the web site about the first stage of the race with some pretty good video. I can't wait to see some of the more formidable terrain and the big trucks.

Course Overview-

Dakar heads back to South America in 2010, and the challenging terrain of Argentina and Chile. Starting in the Argentine capital Buenos Aires, the round trip via Iquique on the Chilean north coast is a challenge that will test the toughest riders, drivers and teams. Competitors will negotiate the Patagonia plains and the Atacama Desert as the course takes them from the Atlantic Ocean, across the Andes Mountains to the Pacific Ocean and back again in just 15 days. At around 9,000 kilometres in total distance, of which 4,810 kilometres is Special Stage, Dakar 2010 is sure to be as exciting as ever.

 I'm sure you've seen over on ADV Rider, I'm planning on recording the showing of the 2010 Dakar on the Versus channel and posting them up like I did the Baja 1000. I'll post them here too. I think (IIRC) the first showing is on Monday the 4th.

I didn't see that, but that's very cool of you Caleb! I'll look forward to it!

I still have them all on my Tivo, I can pull them off and put them up if there's interest. It was found that there was the same and sometimes better coverage online at the link Greg posted above. If you want me to put them up, say so and I'll see what I still have on my Tivo.

Those are seriously some of the tallest dunes I have ever seen. I would give anything to be able to try some of those climbs on my CR500

I know I'm dreaming but how much fun would it be to get a couple people together and spend a week down there watching the race next year? If the cards were payed right I think it could be fairly inexpensive. I have a friend in Santiago that would be happy to show us around.
