Damage at Sand Flats

Found this line from the article interesting:

Sand Flats management was caught unawares, officials said. With only a limited staff on duty during Thanksgiving weekend...

Isn't it well known that many groups and individuals go to Moab for Thanksgiving? Shouldn't they be expecting more traffic than the average winter weekend?

Regardless, pretty sorry situation. I wish the responsible parties could be caught, but probably not. Especially not 6 weeks later.

Was down for turkey weekend, but never made it up to Sands Flat. There were a lot of Motorcross guys down there. We ran into about a dozen or so on Behind the Rocks. Was really impressed at the ones we met asking about the trail and making sure to stay on it. Maybe a sign of hope.

I really hate to hear that, makes the rest of us motorcyclists look bad and does physical & emotional damage that will take years to repair. :-\

If you can't stay on the trail, STAY AT HOME! :mad2:
