I have a D20 t-case, which I installed a twin stick on some time ago. Now, with a longer wheelbase I see the NEED to be able to shift each axle independantly. Are the interlock pins the only things I need to remove or do I need to get inside?

Yes, but be careful when shifting....it is possible to bind it up real good....don't ask me how I know:D

I thought you had to have the thing apart to get the pills out, I have done this to a 20 when I rebuilt it and I pretty sure you have it apart with the rails out to remove the pins, also what Rckcrlr said front low rear high or vice versa is a good combo:D

You have to remove the shift forks in order to remove the pins.
Easy job though.

There are three plugs on the outside of it, each contains a spring and a pill. I have removed the spring and pill from them and there is still not a complete independence from each other, but you guys are saying I also need to remove the pins on the inside as well?

I had more info once but lost it
The J shift only had to cut the shifter tabs

Bronco Dana 20: 1966-1972
The shift mechanism has a bar between the two shift rails, which a single shift rod connects to a shifter that works in a straight line pattern 4Hi - 2Hi - N - 4L. This Tcase will shift directly from a Wrangler type Tcase shifter by use of a single rod.
These cases can be twin-sticked by dis-assembling the case and removing an interlock pin in the shift rail mechanism. A twin stick shifter handle assembly will be needed.
Bronco Dana 20: 1973-1977
The shift mechanism has two rails protruding from the front of the case which have welded on tabs designed to interface with the stock J pattern shifter. This "J" shifter mechanism works only with the stock type Bronco Tcase adapter housing. In other than stock applications, it is usually easiest to convert to twin sticks.
Twin Sticking: This transfer case requires no internal modification to work with twin sticks to get front wheel drive, rear wheel drive or 4 wheel drive in any range. It is easily modified for twin stick use without any internal modification to the Tcase:

Thanks for clearing things up Bobmed. I've got a T-shift, so I guess after P-Day I'll be ripping it down. Those links look like they will help me a lot!
