77 CJ did not come with an Auto and a dana 20. Did someone replace the quadratrac case with the 20?
ditto,
if this is stock, no one has touched it, it probably has a quadra trac. the dana 20 was stock application with the 3 and 4 speed trannys, I have the t18 with a 20 in my 77cj5.
I am trying to remember how to make sure it is quadra trac...
it was something basic...
is the shifter in the glove compartment?
keeping posting, I love cj stuff.
this might answer some questions.

This was the optional (in lieu of the Dana Model 20) full-time chain drive transfer case that was found behind the AMC TH400 automatic between 1973 and 1979. It was the first Jeep transfer case to be made of aluminum and to be chain-driven.

This unique transfer case had an integrated limited-slip differential much like an axle, that transfers power to the front and rear axles. A driver operated vacuum switch (usually located in the glove compartment) allows this differential to be locked at will.
