Dana 30 Camber Issue...

My CJ Dana 30 seems to be having some camber issues. I have replace all the balljoints and checked the torque a few times. When you look at the front end from a few feet away you can see that the tire sticks out quite a bit on the top. This is the same for the right side and the left side.... Do you think this is something that I can fix myself or would it be best to take it to an alignment shop? I have kinda read about shims and missalignment thingies for the upper balljoint,,,but,,, I don't know.

Input?

The tire sticks out at the top, like it's the opposite of an axle bent from jumping? A lot of axles are set up that way from the factory, so it may not necessarily be a "problem".

If it is bad enough to matter, you can get offset balljoint "seats" (for lack of the proper name for 'em), or angley spindle shimmy things. (that IS the proper name for those.)

BC used the spindle shim route on his CJ, if I remember right. Mebbe he has one or more laying around?

Ya, opposite of jumping... I just messured them and there is a difference of 1/2" top to bottom. I also found this sweet scanned pic on PBB.

like Carl mentioned I have heard of vehicles coming from the factory like this, I *think* its for better turning. Have you noticed increased wear on the outside of the tire?

Camber shims........ How far ya out? If mamory serves me correctly, they have 1/2, 1, and 2 1/2 degree shims. I went the 2 1/2 route due to a different problem (note to self, Jeeps dont wheelie good)..... Henderson is your friend here dude.

I guess I should put a degree finder on it and see, do they sell them in inches or degrees? Remember the cost by chance?

Just in degrees, and you can stack em if needed. I'm thinking they were like 8 bucks per, but it's been a while.

Could it be a problem with caster?? If the caster is wrong couldn't that exagerate the camber angle??
