I am thinking about throwing an ez-locker in the front of my 1990 yj dana 30.
So my question is what are the problems with doing this?
Since it is vaccum actuated the right side will be disengaged while in 2 wheel drive but the differential, drive shaft will be turning all the time? Correct?

Is this going to:
Affect on road manners?
Wear out my diff, drive shaft, transfer case?

What are the pros and cons of doing this? Thanks :greg:

By the way the the ez-locker is free so thats why its the locker of choice:D

You are correct on everything you say.

I won't affect road manners noticeably, and the increased wear won't really be a problem unless you have an already-existing problem. The only issue might be a little bit more vibration from that front driveshaft if it's not perfectly balanced. (you could check that easily just by throwing it in 4WD right now and driving around)

my brother has a lockright in the front of his yj and he doesn't have any problems with it at all you can't even tell it is in there. i notice mine in my tj more than i have ever noticed his in his yj. go for it. the performance gain will be well worth it and it sounds like the price is right.

Like everyone else has said, very minimal negatives to putting the front locker in. I have an Aussie locker (basically a EZ locker) in the front of my 94 YJ. I did get rid of the vac. disconnect. Anytime I need to head out on a extended road trip, I disconnect the front drive shaft at the pumpkin and head out. Sure the pinion will be turning, but you won't get any vibes from the drive shaft. What you gain in rock crawling potential is well worth it.
