This is my attempt at cutting and narrowing my D60 with only having to cut and narrrow the long side. I am shooting for 63.5 wms to wms with a 27.5 center to center spring perch width. I also wanted to eliminate the bolts that are used to hold the spring in place. So I am redrilling it 3/4 of an inch to the outside to acheive this.

first alittle info. I took and set the spring pad on the passenger side at 0* to get a base line on the caster and the pinion angles, they are as follows.....

spring perch set at 0*

caster is 6*

pionion is 9*

to me this meant that I did not need to cut and turn the passenger side "C" to acheive the caster I was shooting for.

I'm sure you will do a great job. How did you like cutting that with your chop saw? What is your plan for removing the "C" off the excess?
Ya,

How straight was the cut? Looks straight, did you just go slow and take your time? This is cool, keep posting them.

Easy...............

1. Cut the tube off at the weld
2. Sand it down 2 the C-yoke
3. Drill 3 or 4 hole in the tube that is remaning in the C-yoke
4. Press it out in a press(If U don't have a press bring it 2 me and will do it 4 U)
5. All easy magic

I would think it would be easier if your removed the "C" before you cut. Them a BFH would be your friend.

However, as Mr. :) Van Man said... A pess would pe the ticket.

On mine, we used a lathe to turn out the weld. The big hydro press at Six States wouldn't budge it though, so Andy sliced the remaining tube material in two pieces and it came out easy after that.

SORRY,
Step 3. Drill the hole's from the inside of th C-yoke and use a
drill bit just smaller then the tube(the tube is 1/2")

If you want, I'll bring my welder and extension cord over, should just plug into your stove or dryer outlet. LMK 556-9189

COOL! I can't imagine cutting a 60. They be kind of hard to find (well, $$$ anyway). Instead of measuring twice cut once, I think I'd measure 8-10 times and go back over EVERYTHING before cutting and then measure again 2-3 times..........

So, now if you want it back to full width you just run some dually hubs?
