Dealing with a gas thief

Over the summer I noticed a few times that I did not get as many miles per tank, after 3 or 4 times I kind of figured that it could be the work of theives. Most of the time the jeep is inside the garage, so I have not been to worried about it. Since then I have a new carb, and I have been keeping track of my mileage. Well last week I had a project going on in the garage so the jeep stayed outside for 2 nights. Well guess who is missing almost exactly 5 gallons of gas

So to get my revenge I think I need to leave soem "bad fuel" outside for a few nights to see if it walks off. I am thinking about putting an old gas can outside laced with something bad. I understand that the sugar in the tank deal is a myth, and will not really harm an engine. Is there anything that I can add to my bait fuel harm an engine? I figure that will ensure that I get the right person....suckers...

10 bottles of rubbing alcohol should make a good impression.

Ok part II then. What is good to spike fuel with? I understand that sugar is a myth, and really won't do too much expect maybe plug a fuel filter. What does a high dose of rubbing alcohol do? A little is suppose to help pass emissions, but what does 10 bottles in 5 gallons hurt? What else is good to mix in there? Diesel fuel? Turpentine? other ideas?

Diesel fuel, maybe some oil. If you picked a warm day some water.

Other thoughts what about some pepper or something that could clog a fuel filter...

I'm gonna have to go with the "catch them" approach. As much as I like the idea of double-crossing them... Remember that if they suspect you of giving them bad gas, what is to stop them from trashing your Jeep? Worse yet, filling your tank with sand?

I say find out who it is... and then dump sand in their tank... they probably have more victims to suspect than just you

im havin the same problem at my work first they take my cd player then that take gas and the other day i pulled in my motorcycle and the put a hole in the side wall of the back tire

so im thinking of leaving my car or somthing else out one night and sit and watch then im going to follow them back to their house and start messing with their stuff

and if its the same person that took my cd player because i saw their car pull away after they took it im going to remove every window and cut all 4 tires that my cd player paid for i know it did because they had their car at the tire shop next door about a week later but my boss wouldnt let me go over their till after they left

I don't think it is right for me to do damage to their cars directly. That kind of puts me on the same level as them. But I am fine with the idea of letting them dump bad fuel into their own cars. If I figure out who it is (and I think I have it narrowed down to a few neighbors) I will just give them a good loud knock on the door, and loudly explain that they have taken their last sample of free gas with all 10 fingers attached.

i wouldnt do any damage to their car if they wouldnt of pulled my door lock them break my window a take a 400 radio after it was all fixed it cost me 1100 to have it all fixed and i still dont have a radio in my car

spike the gas with water... half a gallon - 1 gallon of gas to 4 or so gallons of water...

Or even dump some muriatic acid with it...

Acid would work well if you used enough, too much gas will just dilute it.

it's already fairly diluted, only 30% pure by volume I believe... It might just clean out their gas tank and injectors

we have this stuff at my work that cleans out the carbon build up ive been told if you put it in the gas tank it will eat out the inside of the injector i could probly get you a bottle if you want

i like your ideas so far....but this will be a hit and miss revenge idea: leave the jeep outside one night; take up a well hidden position and wait....i would say to have a shotgun by your side and when the dip comes up to steal your gas....walk out slowly and make that famous sound the shotgun makes and watch his pants get wet....or just get a paintball gun and freeze some paintballs and shoot him when he comes by....guess i am just crazy but he needs to be taught a lesson...

The paintballs at very close range wouldn't kill him, but it would sure make him wish he was dead! And for the next few days too... Easily identifiable after you call the cops, too!
