i have one in the front... sucks on rocks/dry pavement, but i like it in the snow... selectable lockers are 100x's better in my opinion...

I run one in the rear of the Commando (it's the daily driver) and one in the front and rear of the Cruiser (buggy).

Just do it I don't even notice the one in the Commando,,,, well until it pops...:D

I have one in my 4runner, it's barely noticeable. I think the longer your wheelbase, the better they behave on-road.

I had them in the front and rear of my Jeep and didn't mind them at all. My wife on the other hand hated to drive it. That can be a good thing and a bad thing. I also had to be careful with the hard left turns as the jeep wanted to go straight and would lift the front left tire off the ground. I was used to it so it didn't bother me but people riding with me and the people around me would freak out. I would go selectable next time just so my wife could drive it (I drive a Rubicon now).

I had Lockrights in the front and rear of my old XJ, and I hear the Detroits are smoother. I didn't mind driving it, but my wife wouldn't touch it. I got funny looks in parking lots as it clunked around corners. It would behave badly on the freeway, but it was predictable. I could handle it fine, but when someone new drove it, it would change lanes before they could react.

The same thing happens in my TJ when I get on it and turning left. I don't know if it is just the suspension set up or what but it does get old pretty quick. Other than that I don't mind having detroits front and rear in my daily driver. My rear tires do ware quicker than my front ones though, maybe I am on the gas to much.

I have read that its really common to lift a front tire when turning in a lifted and locked TJ. Short wheelbase and flexy suspension and something do to with how the rear is set up. I have even seen a few TJ guys swap in rear leaf springs to combat that. For a daily driver I would look into really agresive LSD like the TrueTrac. Its still give alot more traction than open diffs but it more street friendly.

The tire lifting is due to body roll. It's a suspension issue, not locker... A friend of mine has a TJ open/open with 4" Currie lift and can lift a tire. I have a 5.5" long arm, LSD in the back and I can't lift a tire. Even if I have the locker engaged.

In my experience, they are virtually invisible when your running larger tires (37+) on 15" rims.

Yes, you can feel them back there once in a while, but its not nearly what they are with 35s and under.

I've been running 37's for over a year on mine and I can still feel the locker on the highway and around town just as much as when I was running 33's. I don't think that tire size will make your jeep want to turn any more or stop it from moving when the locker pops.

Perhaps it just doesn't bother me as much as someone else. I've put Detroits in all my personal rigs for a number of years and although I can feel it back there here and there, its nothing overwhelming or even bothersome.
