Don't know if many of you read Jp mag? The highlighted CJ this month was one that got a rare 80's scout (nissan)diesel conversion. SO... I found one-here in utah county- Looks alright and it is for sale, body has some rust, it's apparently from alaska so there is probably a lot of miles, but that also verifies the reliability. Just curious if this is rare enough for the 3k price tag? Would it make for a rad biofuel/veg-oil conversion into a cj? Just wanted all you to know it's out there.

I would love to get one but most people I have met say they have a hard enough time getting out of their own way and say the 4 cylinder gas motors are much more powerful. I've heard parts are very hard to get and VERY expensive so I would put a 4BT from a bread van in. Cheaper, more powerful, and easier all around.

If you want to put it in a CJ, there are much better options. There aren't many diesel Scouts, please leave them for the purists. You j**p guys have scrapped too many scouts already. ;)

The guy seems to be renting the house on the corner of 800 south and freedom boulevard. I noticed his plates(alaska) and his rig and assumed that he was a newcomer in town. He uses it to commute because it's not always there, If you want i can get you a phone #???

It seemed like a fun plausible frankenjeep but I'll take your word for it on the power. I'd want some wheelspeed to go with all the effort. I believe the reason why the job has been done before is cause of a solid drivetrain as well. Let's be honest I don't need another project. But to dream of posibilities is always fun.
