I need to get my tranny flushed in my 2005 Cummins anyone have any good feed back on a good tranny shop that they have used for their diesel truck?

Thanks,

Shawn

I do not trust anyone other than the dealer for mine, and I watch them as well. It's very important to get the right oil in my trans, and most places not only don't have it, they don't even know what I'm talking about. Plus they aren't any cheaper than the dealer anyway.

Chicks, West Temple just south of 33rd on the east side....
I called Chicks and talked to the guy. He knew what he was doing that is for sure. I told him that my trans was searching for a gear at low rpms and rattled off that I need to replace a sensor in my valve body. I wrote down the part and searched about it on a diesel board and found out this sensor and a was a common problem.

Looks like I will be doing it myself this time..:D

FYI for the DIY

Disconnect the rear trans cooler line from the trans. Clamp a 5/8 ID hose over the end and put the other end into a bucket or container that will hold a least 4-qts. Drop the pan down and replace the filter and put the pan back up using the new gasket provided. The pan holds approx. 4-5 qts. Add 6-qts of new fluid to the trans. Start the engine, making sure the hose is in the container and pump 4-qts of old fluid out of the trans by putting the trans in neutral. The pump in the trans will not work with the trans in park, has to be in gear or neutral. Add 4-qts, then pump out 4-qts, add 4-qts and pump out 4-qts. Add 2-qts, re-connect the trans cooler line to the trans. You have now replaced the entire volume of the trans, the trans cooler and the lines. Start the engine and check for leaks. Check the fluid level and add as necessary.

AND/OR

Drop pan, change filter, leave bands alone, button up, re-fill. Start truck in neutral, idle a minute. Shut down pull the return line at the trans (rear most), start engine in neutral, have a helper add atf4 the dip stick as you watch the fluid coming out the return line. When you see a color change about 8 quarts, stop the engine and your good. I have done this twice. The BIGGEST thing is not to overfill. Top the tranny by the stick till it reads the low mark. Once the trans gets up to 190 the fluid expands and reads full. Fill a cold trans to the full mark and the fluid will cavitate (bubble). Just as bad as under-filled.

 Was that $250 with the broke part? Last quote I got from the dealer was $180 for a flush and filter. That +4 is hella expensive

$150.00 to do a simple drain and fill.
$250.00 to do the complete flush.
$350.00 to drain, flush and replace the sensor.

Wait, shouldn't the sensor have been under warranty?
I'm sure it is.... just not sure I want to remove the Juice Box just to take it in. Plus, my truck is my only transportation right now. I'll change the sensor later, it's not that bad.
