Hey everyone,
I seem to have found a new dent in my front diff cover on my 60, luckily no leaks, just ugly potential problem and good oportunity to upgrade to something bigger and badder! :D

What are you all running?

Where did you get it?

What would you do different?

General Comments, etc...

Let me know...

thanks,

Dude!
This is your chance to get the holy grail of all diff covers! Look into the crane diff covers. Yes, they are a bit expensive, but, how much is peace of mind worth. I am running a D60 Kingpin in my CJ and have abused the shat out of it. These are the best design I could find out there. If anyone else has found something stronger and cheaper, more power, Buy them! but these babies can take a whoopin. I paid $160 for mine. KENNETH !!

If you can weld then I vote for calling blue torch fab and buying one of their DIY diff kits...you basically get a jibsaw puzzle and you get to weld it together...they are very nice looking...and not nearly the price of the Cranes...

I have the Crane cover on my 60, I have to say its bombproof, Its taken some hard hits. My only problem with it is that I think the holes for the bolts are a little too big...I dunno if its common with other covers but seal it up and tighten it down and after a trail or two of hits it leaks. Not bad mind you, but always a few drops or more after a few days in the garage. Its a little frustrating that I can't get it to seal better
I am in the market for a better cover for my rear 60, I think I'm going to try out the ones from Blue Torch, they seem to be pretty beefy.

Ok I found this guy back in Indiana, he seems pretty cool. The only downside is shipping these heavy beasts acrossed the country.

Sooooo

I thought while I was bringing in a pair for me is there anyone else that wants some? We might as well get a group buy going and save some on shipping and maybe he will cut us a deal on the price.

I was going to try and get these in here by friday so I could put them on my jeep for the price run, but I can't get them in time so I will probably place my order by the end of the week.

Let me know if this can help you out.
He has them for D44, D60 and 14 bolts

good idea but a really doubt he will give you any better deal, he has said several times on PBB that he is already selling them for almost no mark-up so he cant go any cheaper...but saving on shipping is a good point...

Am I the only one that thinks if you need a diff cover that strong, you are gonna have problems elsewhere? I mean, when in the world are you gonna smash your diff into a boulder going above 30 mph and not have some other complications elsewhere, such as one messed up suspension and bent housings?

Over kill is cool, but man... where do you draw the line?

I run stock thick Dana covers with a strap of 3/16" welded to it. I've smash that thing into many rocks and it's holding up fine. Didn't cost me a dime either.
