Being a product of the eighties and a lover of the music, I have to say I much perfer the last 5-10 years of music....esspecially the Independant stuff. There is a lot of crap, but there is some VERY good stuff out there too!

I don't disagree with you at all. The majority of what I've listened to in the past ten years has been local/indie. But as far as main stream radio, I think the 80's have it over the past decade. I'm not saying that it was all good, but who can deny a little Duran-Duran, Dexy's Midnight Runners, Kim Wilde or Devo? Match that up against Brittany Spears, The Backstreet Boys or Good Charlotte plus all the rap and I think we have a clear winner in the 80's.

I'll agree with you on the mainstream, the 80's main stream radio music pwns the mainstream radio crap of the late 90's and the 00's thus far.

I feel sorry for anyone who didn't grow up to experience the golden age of rock music. late 60's, 70's and early 80's.

My mom was into the new stuff while I was growing up, so I grew up with the Eagles, Steely Dan, etc...etc... Good tunes! I can still 'hear' the 8 track 'click' in some of the songs I hear on the radio!

Anyone with Sirius radio, check out station 14 or 19 (those with Dishnetwork can hear it on 6014 or 6019). Probably my most favorite stations :D

Oh yea!! the pop/top 40 crap the last 10 or so years is pure horse ****!!!!
Over produced no talent puke....for the most part....Though GC and other poppunk is a guilty pleasure once in a while:guilty:

Personally I think that the 80's was the last decade of music that really had an identity. You can recognize most 'pop' music from the 80's straight away because of its distinctive sound. These past two decades, not so much. I'm not saying it's been bad music, just that its been pretty blah as a whole.
Very blah as a whole. There's no creativity anymore and nothing with any meaning.

Classic rock is the best! :chris:
