we shall see.
should be wheeling in a week or two
fullsizeyota said:cool pics man .. whats the best way to get to the top of sand hallow?? my 55 wont fit through the 4-wheeler underpass thingy...
the SAS is no big deal, we (basically me) did a SAS on a 86 4-runner.. we kicked the axle forward 2 1/2 inches.. it was killer, we built a beefy front cross member... it was pretty cool. we installed dual cases, the whole bit.. then my buddy decided to sell the truck....
if you need any help or anything, let me know, SAS's are fun..
so is bobbing a 4-runner :greg:
you looked into aussie lockers? i bought one for my 55, it was like 280 shipped to my door, its only been out one time, but its worked great.. if your looking for a low-buck locker, that would be a good one.. on second thought, i dont know if aussie makes one, but the lock right is the same exact thing, and i know they make one for the mini axles. my buddy has one
you need to make some armor for that poor truck of yours sliders and bumpers are your friend.. i think the 55 is gonna get some sliders here in the next week or 2, i will try to take some pics.
like i say, i just moved here, and my pics havent made the voyage yet... i think there are a few crappy ones around the internet, let me try to dig some up...
ps st george sucks, no nut and bolt store like ogden, no junk yards (for my power steering conversion) no cruiser outfitters for when i break my junk, no shop to work in, and no welder (as of yet)
d-krawler said:bring you stuff up north to utah county and we can hit up mini moab
solidfrontaxle said:This is all true. There are a few junkyards, but none with cruiser stuff. The best toy junkyard is in Hurricane. Hurst has bolts and nuts, but not a huge selection. I heard that there was a fastener store on industrial road, but I haven't been there.
fullsizeyota said:i agree, instead of a spool i would just weld it up... i have welded up about 5 diffs and one is my own FJ40, they only problem is it scrubs off the tires around every corner.
if your carefull, you should be able to weld it up and later if you wanted, you should be able to cut the old spider gear hunk out with a torch, since the lock right or any lunch box locker will replace the gears entirely..

i guess i will adjust... :-\
the cruiser working-on-situation is about 100 worse here, poop. oh well
40_Below said:Hey the place I work usually has a full stock of SAE nuts & bolts (no metric)
We can order whatever bolts you need, (metric, Gr8, etc) with only 1-2 shipping. We also have steel and welding supplies.
But I agree the junkyards suck balls, way overpriced.
