Guess I'll just let this be the tech thread.
Sorry I forgot my camera for the first phase...
I picked up 5 wheels worth of rings from
K.O.R.E. for $323 shipped.
Do to the fact that I didn't want to spend another $350 on new 16.5 x 8 rims,
I went with 4 used chromeies that bobmed gave me and 1 rusted to sh!t white spoke that hub crap city charged me $20 for
I borrowed a sand blaster and figured all would be well
wrong, damned thing kept plugging up. Then it rained/snowed for the remaining two days before I had an appointment to get them welded...
Hickey was gullibl...
nice enough to agree to weld them up for me on his fancy DIY beadlock welding jig supreme, which of course was no where to be found when I arrived
So he just built a new one
Turns out none of the wheels were exactly round  but they probably aren't any worse than what most people are rolling around on, it just made centering the inner ring more challenging.
All 5 wheels ended up with a lip that needed to be ground off. the white one was twice as big and made of much harder steel, it made me cry a little...
Since rim makers are f'n retarded and don't put safety beads on anything larger than 16" we decided to weld some on... we didn't get the spacing dialed to perfection until the last two though
I'll mount them and see how they work, but they may have to be redone. Here's one of the two that are the same.
I needed to find out what bolt length I need to get so I did a test fit, and while it was mounted I figured it just as well pose on the truck
Here they are stacked up awaiting the next phase.... sandblasting, which timpanogos was nice enough to volunteer his son in law for
Cost so far (minus gas for running around)
4 rims $0
1 rim $21.25
5 rings $323
hardware $69.70 (160 grade 8 bolts, 160 grade 8 nylocs and 320 hardened washers)
A little bit of blood that spilled on britney's new garden tractor trailer while I helped Hickey with assembly.
Now I just need to figure out what the hell color I'm going to paint them
