Jeep Do I have axle wrap?

I have a soa on my yj. Over the last couple years I started to notice a major vibration when going up really steep slopes. It has gradually gotten worse to the point where if I give it too much gas while driving down a flat road, it will vibrate briefly after shifting into a new gear. Does that sound like axle wrap? When I drive in 4 low up steep slopes, it's almost like a hard knocking underneath.

Sounds like U joints.

I'll agree in general with this. ^^

It could also be the slip yoke in your transfer case, if you still have one.

And yes, unless you have some sort of traction bar, you certainly have axle wrap. :)

I am sure that you are getting axle wrap with SOA. Do you have an anti-wrap bar?

However, your vibration is most likely coming from u-joints. These joints could be wearing our pre-maturely due to axle wrap. With SOA you need to have an anti-wrap bar (traction bar) and a slip yoke eliminator. If you already have these, replace the u-joints in the rear drive shaft and move on. If not, add these items and replace those u-joints.
