Dome Plateau trail questions

So, I'll be in Moab over the weekend, minus one XJ though, but in a AWD Mitsubishi Endeavor :)ugh:). I'd looked at doing this trail and it sounds like it's possible to run, but that there are a few smaller ledges at the trail that could turn back some people. I don't know if 4low would be needed, but for those that have run it, is it doable in a AWD vehicle? It's got about the same clearance as any normal 4wd SUV......

Or what trails would your run if it were you stuck in this kind of ride?

Helps!

that road down into hell roaring canyon was pretty easy, as would be spring canyon/spring canyon point.

isn't an endeavor a minivan? you're on a slippery slope my nerdy hippie friend.

I think that we might come in on the Blue Hills Rd on friday morning, go out to Spring Canyon Point. Dellenbaugh tunnel and what not as well, Secret Spire, Hidden Canyon, depending on time. Saturday is Dome Plateau.

And it's close. It's one of those crossover SUV's. Normal clearance for a SUV though, just no low range. She got rid of her Montero over the weekend, so now we're using this.....hope I don't break it

I assume you are going to run Dome according to Chuck Wells book. Even though Chuck has been with me on an official ride his book does not take the same route as the EJS route. I typically have to strap stock vehicles up “Again and Again Hill” but this is easily bypassed, though a long bypass, to get to the overlook. The start of the trail at Dewey Bridge has a few ledges that may give an AWD vehicle a challenge as well as a few other spots. The trail would not be a good choice for a vehicle that was low and no low range.

Yep, that's the book I've been referencing.....so on his route do you think that it'd have problems?

Hard to say. I ran into some UTV's on the trail the last time I was out there and they were not having a good time due to inexperience. They were following Chucks book.

Guess that one is going to be debateable till we get out. The SO did tell me I can't hit her new SUV on rocks, so maybe I'll have to bypass this trail ;)
