Dove tails on trailers

Aint nearly as funny as that crack about you missing a cone.....

(Like that ever happened)

Bwahahaha, you a funny man.

Don't run truck radials on it, you will regret it.

Are you keeping the goose neck?

Gooseneck is gone. Sold it last week. Really on the truck radials? If that's the case I'll just stick to 15" wheels and trailer tires. Why not load rated truck tires?

I have seen radial tires on trailers do bad things, causing major fish tailing. Don't know the science as to why, just know that I wouldn't do it after the cases I have seen.

I have radial trailer tires on my trailer.

I've used passenger car tires in a pinch with no bad results, but wouldn't want to do it on purpose. I don't know if truck tires would be different or how much--I'd think they'd be stiffer/better, but I'll still stick with specific trailer tires, I think.

I've run radial trailer tires on my last 4 trailers with no ill effects. Do you mean radial car tires???? I also ran radial light truck tires on an old trailer and didn't have a problem then either.

I need some facts as to why load rated truck tires are bad.

I have a friend who has load range E take offs on his horse trailer and then he can use the same tires and wheels for his spares on the trailer and truck. He has done this for a long time and tells me it's a great way to go.

I've had numerous issues with them, but the trip (supposed trip) out to Broad Canyon one summer when I was a punk with 4 load range E 40% take offs on a 4 horse trailer with 2 horses in it ended any thoughts I ever had about running anything but bias trailer tires on a trailer (well maybe the 14 ply trailer radials).

By the time we got 5 miles down the dirt road towards Allen's Ranch we had blown 4 tires and installed 3 spares we had with us, we limped back to Cedar Fort with 3 tires on the ground. They were Goodyear tires.

Meat, I think you are addressing the issue of which tire works best on gravel, and it's hands down a bias trailer tire. Both trailer radials and load rated truck radials would perform close to the same in that situation. I will run a radial because most of my driving will be on pavement.

Yeah that story was, but I have seen many other issues with truck tires on trailers. Trailer radials are built differently, they don't bulge and flex like truck tires. You should check out these Hancook 14 ply radials that are on my gooseneck, the one leaks down to 2 or 3 pounds over time and you can't tell its low even with the trailer sitting at about 8,500lbs. They can be found fairly cheap.

Yeah, no kidding. The 70k miles I've towed (on radials) in the last 7 years doesn't add up to much against the Meat card.

Through my powers of deduction and reasoning it seems that if you tow the buggy you should be fine, if you tow horses or mules your fawked:p
