Drill Press?

I've had my HF drill press for around 6 years now, and it's had a LOT of use. (including about 3 years in the shop...) Got a new chuck just before I brought it back home, and it still works as new.

Like EZ said, the included oiler is worthless, don't even put it on. Other than that, it's been great.

One of the things I was looking for when I bought mine was slow speed--and mine will go down to 160RPM, I think. I looked/researched a lot before purchasing, and my model looks identical to the JET model at the time, with the exception of the housing around the belts and the on/off switch. The belt brand is the same, the chuck is the same brand, even the same little dollop of grease on top of the splines for the chuck. :)

I'd say go with the HF. I got my Central Machinery 8" press from them a couple of years now and it works great. They have some nice mill drills too. Have you looked at Grizzly.com ? They have a nice product line and you can find a lot of online write ups on how to accurize for minimal costs. The mini mill drills will do a lot for you.

Thanks for all the help guys, I'm going to look for a used one locally and if I can't find one, I'll get the HF model.

Muleskinner... let me know what you find about that nearly-new drill press.

I'm not sure when I'll be up that direction again, but I can pay now if he's willing to hang on to it for a little bit, mabey up to 2 months?

It is the fullsize, floor mount press correct?

Yes, It’s a full size floor mount. (I'm not sure what the model # is) I was there when he bought it, he put it together and then got divorced. I bet it's never been used. If you want to pay him for it I'll put it in my shed until you get in town.

That would be great Scott. Should I sent you the money or him? How shall we go about this?
