Dual Batteries

An isolater alone has a voltage and current draw that can't be overcome without some alternator tweeking from what I understand..which results in undercharged batteries...

I ended up going with solidstate system over a mechanical system like the wrangler.. Solid state stuff is a little more dependable in my electrical experiences.. I ended up going with Hellroaring sytem.. http://www.hellroaring.com/4wheel.htm

Sorry for piping in way late here but..... Sounds like you're wanting to unload your alternator a tad? You can install a dozen batteries, but it's not going to help your alternator situation a bit.

A dead or weak battery is going to tax your alternator, no matter how many you have. Nice part of duals is, you'll always have that starting battery sitting there if you need it.

I'd dump my cash into a good 85 or 100 amp alternator first.

FYI, A&E Generator used to build some AWESOME alternators for our plow trucks. (don't run them anymore cuz it don't snow anymore)

did you look at the ones at napa? they are almost identical to those but anodized blue instead and they only cost about $15-$20...

this a little differnent setup than the NAPA stuff, those are basic isolators, which draw current. this has a in cab station as the Wrangler system does, but on this one the LED's actually mean something (has diagnostic values).. It basically works the same as the wrangler its just not mechanical (doesn't have contacts to burn, corrode, etc...) the Hellroaring setup can be switched to be single or both batteries as well as keeps them isolated..

I went with this one because it doesn't have a solenoid to quit on you..and Seems like a good setup..
