Just thought I'd start a thread about some big rides that I'd like to make at some point. Next year would be great, but we will see how that actually pans out. Would be nice to have some company on any of these rides... ;)

Great Ride Report on ADVRider.com- http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=147232

I met the guys who made that Trip Report (Mark & Bruce) while I was out riding in the Swell on my DRZ. They were in the middle of their ride, trying to find their way thru the Swell. At that point I didn't realize that people were riding a trail across the Country, sticking strictly to dirt and backroads. Seeing how they were packing everything they needed on 2 motorcycles and had bikes prepared for long miles between fuel stops really got me interested in that type of riding. I blame them for my current interest in Adventure Riding! Me personally, I would start at the border of Oklahoma, New Mexico and Colorado and ride it from there up to the Oregon Coast.

Good Ride Report on ADVRider.com, lots of pics!- http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=525617

This trail would have be ridden from the Mexican border to the Canadian Border, IMO. Or the other way... either way, covering the Divide from US border to US border would be a blast! The CDT is a popular mountain biking destination and as I understand, there are a few places that motorcycles have to use a different route. It would be fun to haul the bikes in a rental truck, getting cllose to one border, ride the trail, then take the backroads home. I think this is another trail that will require good timing due to the extreme elevations and drastically varying parts of the country. It could be 100*'s down on the Southern portion of the trail and be freezing at night in the North. Being lucky with the weather would also be a big help.
