DWR Limited Entry Draw

DWR . . . there is a drawing they hold every year for a Moose permit in a limited area.
The area the drawing is for is 90% private property. Of the 10% that is public property, there are only 5 acres that can be hunted on.
To apply for a permit, you must state that you have permission from a landowner in the area to hunt on their property.

This drawing has been happening for several decades.

In all of that time, 2 things have happened.
1- NO landowner in the area has drawn out for a tag.
2- NO landowner in the area has given permission for people to hunt on their land.

Somehow, people keep drawing out for this hunt . . . but since the DWR doesn't require proof of permission, it's a moot requirement that people have been ignoring for decades.

Several times the people who have drawn out for the hunt have shown up at the private properties and DEMANDED entry b/c of their permits . . .
And more often than not the landowners find gut-piles from Moose on their property, which they are not responsible for.

The landowners in this area have spoken with DWR about their concerns MANY times, but DWR refuses to remedy the situation . . .

Just more of DWR's game to get your money.
I have another one for you that's messed up that has to do with private property.
There's an area down here by Price that is open bull elk but only on Private property. All the public land in that unit is spike only. Now if that isn't screwed up I don't know what is. Obviously somebody with some clout over DWR has a vested interest in hunting mature elk in that unit. Probably owns property and charges a butt load to come hunt elk there.

If you look closely at ANY government organization (and most large private organizations), you will have a case study about why bureaucracies are a BAD IDEA!!!

Well they still haven't posted my results , but they charged my card $40 yesterday :greg: I only put in for general deer and an Elk bonus point, so I got my deer tag but I'm not sure which weapon I will be employing :busted:
