don't like six states?

I didn't say that... Six States has some great guys.

However if they doubt their ability to install it leak free, I would take their word for it, not mine ;)

The ARB systems are actually remarkably simple IMO, and ensuring a leak free system is just a matter of using sound practices during the install. If anything the newer ARB's are actually easier to setup "leak free". They now have a floating seal housing, and use o-rings on the bulkhead fitting instead of a ferrule on the brass line.

I've sold & installed hundereds of ARB's, very, very few issues. In fact out of the ARB's I've installed here in town, I've only had one leak. You can follow my journey here: http://www.cruiseroutfitters.com/tech_ARB_troubleshoot.html

I agree.. Also to, the instructions that come with them are well written with pictures. If read and followed, there is no reason to have a bad install. A big majority of the bad installs I've had to fix, were from some gear installer that has been doing installs for 150 years and figured he could do the ARB. While they aren't rocket science, they are different from a Detroit or etc.

I highly doubt I'll ever run anything different in my rigs.... I say highly, because I don't know what the future will bring.

On a side note, I'm curious about their new design on the o rings and how they will last. Not that I doubt the design, it's just weird seeing them over the old o rings for so long. With that said, I have about 50 (different sizes) of the old style - anyone looking to buy some? ;)

Get a Detroit. I have yet to find a selectable locker that is really reliable. JMHO. :)

Edit: Except maybe the Toy Electric.

I've had good experiences at Six States (14th South 3rd West):confused::confused: Eric's good to work with.

Oh, and I run a modified Eaton E-locker. It works pretty well now. I'd do the ARB if I did it again, though. I've had pretty good luck with them, personally.
how is your e-locker modified? what have you done to it to make it better than they come out of the box?

The early production model I have (I think it's a test mule, actually) had a .030" retaining ring. They've been known to come loose and let the actuator spin around tearing it up. From what I've heard, Eaton has addressed this issue for production lockers, but I haven't seen one to really know.

I had Mike @ Summit Machine cut the .030" groove to .125" and used that size of retaining ring. I've not had any trouble with the locker other than that. It's not a perfect locker, but really isn't too bad at all.

I use it like I used to use my ARB. I lock it before I'm on an obstacle where I'll need it, or if I decide I want it, I pretty much stop the rig and actuate the locker. I'm not a fan of actuating the locker while under "load" like some other users. I believe that's begging for trouble.

Where did you get the new ring? I've still got one of those early Eatons and I want to do the same thing before I use it. My rear Eaton had the same problem, the weak snap ring got pushed off and that removes the ability of the locker to lock. I never had a problem with the front and it's still being used in my old buggy. I'd like to use the Eaton in the front axle of future mystery project.

I was digging through a pile of parts and rounded it up. Mike sounded like he could find one fairly easily, though.

Thats crazy thats exactly what happened to mine. I have some pics of what it did to the actuator. It totaly burned it up. I sent it back to eaton though and they warrantied it though. Mine got locked in though and wouldn't come out?
