Ebay lie ?

I found a Terraflex tie rod bar with offset tie rod ends on ebay and the buy it now price was way low. I bought it expecting an email telling me they goofed up on the price and we would work something out. What I got was this:

Subject: Ebay Auction

Hello And thanks for bidding on our auction. We have a problem with the parts
you won. Our store had a burglary and vandalism over the week end and ALOT
of our produts were stolen. we just now are going though and trying to see
what was taken or damaged. As of right now it looks like the items you won
are stolen. It is a mess and it still may be found. Sorry for your hassle
We can send you a full refund or you can wait to see if we find it. We should
know by the end of the day or tue early.
We have alot of customers with the same problem.

Again We are Vary sorry. Please let us know ASAP what you would like us to
do. For your hassle I can over a discount or free shipping on a future purchase
from us.

Later I got the expected message:
Hello
It is gone. Sorry I can give you a full refund.


It is possible that they are telling the truth but I doubt it. If you broke into a 4x4 shop would you steal a tie rod bar ? I have a feeling this will be sold again at a much higher price later after they figure I have forgotten about it.

Maybe they were planning on bidding up the item to get a higher price. But they missed the auction and you got it too cheap for them to sell. So they back out and sell it later, hoping to avoid negative feedback.

Well, you could turn 'em into the ebay police - It is a legal contract. You bought it, they must ship it. You don't have to agree to letting them off the hook.... It all comes down to what you feel is the right thing to do. Trust them or call their bluff and report it. I'd probably make them give me a full refund and a positive comment. After receiving such, I'd probably leave them a neutral or positive stating what happened and how they dealt with it. Then I'd watch their auctions for that item to come up shortly. If I saw it, not sure what I'd do then....

Do you know the part number they were selling? I could look it up in the price book and see if it's too good to be true or if they were just making a few bucks. PM if you want....

you could always ask them for the police case number and see what they say... if they are telling the true they would not hesitate to give you one...

I thought about calling their local police to see if it was reported or have someone else call them to see if they would sell them the parts.

Scam!!!

I'd bet you a dollar they never had the product to begin with.

Another dollar you ask for a refund, you'll never get it.

This week the seller's are Joe Blows 4X4 shop. Next week they're in the sewing machine business.

PS I'd also bet these people are the same ones that send me emails about my rich dead relatives overseas who left me a bundle of money and all I have to do is send a small amount of money to get it.
