Effing women drivers on their phones!!!!

:mad2: So I rode to BHR to pick up some parts not knowing they're closed on Mondays.... head home, riding down seventh and some chick on her phone pulls out ten feet in front of me... I saw it coming so I grabbed both brakes and locked up the rear...started sliding out so I let off and grabbed again. (((I guess the phone call was very important because the sound of my rear tire screeching didn't concern her much.))) my tire locked up again so I took my escape route which was the 4 feet of room between her and the on coming bus! It wasn't untill I was along side her window that she realized she'd cut me off.

Oh don't worry... she didn't bother getting off her phone, not even when I was shaking my fist at her yelling mad jiberish.

ehhh....had to vent.

As you pass them, raise your boot to mirror level and take it off. It usually gets their attention, and if they aren't going to bother using them they don't need them. Glad you go away unscathed, alot of people don't.

x2... next time that person's driving near another motorcycle, they'll think about that broken mirror and be more cautious.

When I'm riding I have a habit of flipping people off and pointing to where they need to be when I get cut-off or have someone enter my lane. Were you wearing riding gear? Not to preach but after some years under my belt I try hard not to go out wearing ATGATT... All the gear, All the time. Dress for the crash, not the ride. And ride like you're invisible... ride like everyone in a car is out to kill you, because many of them will, given the chance.

I certainly know this story.

17 year old girl talking on the phone made a left out of a parking lot crossing directly in front of me... across both lanes of travel........ no where to go.

6 months off work, big cuts, road-rash, broken bones, blown disk in my back, totaled bike.

Her insurance company (Farmers) said...... not doing anything for ya......see ya in court.

It finally worked out in the end. Girl showed up in court playing up the BYU co-ed angle for the jury....... Lying her ass off like she did through the whole mess.

Took a long time to see any justice (the jury actually listened to the cop that had it right from the beginning) and I had to jump through a lot of hoops. Be glad you pulled out a nice save today. ;)

Farmers sucks.

I almost got hit within sight of my house last Fall. Coming up my street a lady 4 houses down from us was backing out of her driveway. They had parked their boat on the street and she was pulling her minivan out of the garage. She neglected to see me and my bright Yellow DR650 coming up the road. I saw her and she wasn't looking my way... then I was out of view, blocked by the boat. I could see what was happening, swerved across the street and got on the throttle to get past her as she rolled right out into the street without stopping at the sidewalk.

Scared the hell out of me... about 30 yrds from my own home and I almost got hit. That's an eye opener.

Thats why I don't ride street bikes any more. I own a WR450 that I made street legal but only because it allows me to ride from one trail to another in some instances that I have to hit pavement.

I cannot put a number on the times I thought I was going to die on my Rocket because of dumba$$ people. It took a friend of mine and his girlfriend getting t-boned on his ZX6 when I finally threw my hands up and sold it :( He lived for over a year in the hospital before he was well enough to leave. His girl friend was a little more fortunate.

Marlboro red on black... Looking back that was the sexiest machine I have ever owned, but no matter how skilled I was at riding I knew that I had nothing against an ignorant driver behind the wheel :-\

It's good to hear you are okay :D

What is interesting, to me anyways, is that most accidents happen within two miles of home. The reason is actually quite an eye opener in itself. People, while traveling, will open up a little while on the road away from home, focusing on the tasks at hand. As they approach their homes they start to relax and loose focus of what it is that they are doing. Their thinking is that they are almost home and everything is going to be okay. People start thinking about other things that they may have to do and, BAM! That is when accidents happen. Oddly enough this is also when most of the current car jackings are happening. While people are leaving home or they are approaching their homes. Even worse, is that folks are being blurglarized while the home owners are home. Think about it. While you are home you are in YOUR comfort zone.

yeah, I was wearing all my gear. Helmet, jacket, gloves. No pants though, just jeans and steel toed boots. I'm a paranoid rider so I watch for that stuff all the time. I saw it coming but it still didn't give me time to stop. Luckily, I think the bus driver saw it and gave me room to squeeze in.

This is the first real close call I've had and I've had my bike for six years...but like I said. I'm a paranoid rider and I keep my eye out for that stuff all the time. I also don't ride daily. I'm mostly a leisure rider. I ride a VT750, it's a cruiser so it doesn't usually get me into trouble.

that's nuts!

Last summer I was in the right turn lane waiting for the light to change. I was sitting closer to the right side of the lane. Apparently the person behind me didn't want to wait for the green to turn right and tried to go around me on the left side of the turn lane just as I started to pull out. If I wasn't paying attention he would have hit the side of me and I would have been pushed into the curb by his car.

sufficith to say: his passenger door got a good sized dent from my steel toed boot.

Greg is right: you have to ride like you are invisible and make sure folks know you are there.

Glad you're ok!

Not to sound like a jerk but I've seen mostly women doing that stuff. Last week I passed a woman on I-15 texting in the fast lane. Both hands on the phone, eyes down, wrists on the steering wheel. She is going to kill someone, its just a matter of time. When a guy is causing trouble they are paying attention to the road but are driving like d*cks.

Was a big black Denali or a Escalade. Male drivers can suck as well. I'm just saying that from what I have seen its mostly women. When was the last time you saw a man putting on makeup while driving to work? I did see a guy using a electric razor but that's a little less common. :)
