Pro's - Inexpensive to get started, will weld about anything you want on your rig exept sheet metal, will teach you how to weld and what it is like to flow metal
Con's - will have a greater learning curve compared to a MIG to get metal to stick together.
Pick up that welder, a auto dimming helmet from harbor freight, some gloves, and some rods, a chipping hammer, and start making some lines in some scrap metal until you get the feel of it. I spent every evening for a week with my stick welder until I was getting lines worthy of taking a photo so guys could give me pointers so I could improve.
